the thing about the title that bothered ME, personally, and didn’t sit right for ME, is how she stayed so passive when that first anon called her out for using a ldr song as her fic title. even though her intention was not to promote the song, i just do not understand how she could be so passive to have anything remotely related to a zionist on her page. i don’t have anything against liz as a person, i was only disappointed on her actions and how she handled something when she could just recognize her mistake and change her title to avoid this all.

Fionna and Cake theory: Simon the Artist

Nothing like a good old creative panic attack.

Fionna and Cake good. Haven’t been excited about a show like this in a long time, though it being a part of Adventure Time does help quite a bit. I was holding on to some cautious optimism for the show when it was announced as yet another big IP series covering the multiverse (still waiting to groan at THAT scene where Prismo has to explain to us about there being infinite universes), but as usual, Adventure Time’s crew continues to surprise me with its creativity, humor, and thematic resonance.

The most striking part about Fionna and Cake so far is just how deliberately the show wants us to differentiate it from the original Adventure Time.

We’re getting shots where Simon pops an artery from his arm, a theme song that explicitly talks about suicidal ideation, discussions of rent and financial problems, and curses no longer disguised with AT’s usual dialogue. Adventure Time has always had violence, thematic density, and juvenile rating pushers, but they were always reserved at small points. Meanwhile, these are factors that are just casually shown and discussed in Fionna and Cake every 3 minutes or so. This is not an all-ages miniseries, it’s for young adults. (hint: this will be relevant later)

Let’s get right into it. This is much less a speculative lore theory and more on what thematic direction the story may be going.

Before we do, let’s get this out of the way first. This theory assumes that the current Fionna and Cake world is all a part of Simon’s head and not merely a separate multiverse, which… I’m certain is fact for the following reasons.

The immediately obvious piece is that Fionna and Cake was always the Ice King’s fanfiction. Now if you’re versed in AT’s continuity you’re probably going to be asking about the red light in Fionna and Cake + Fionna and… I’ve no answer for it unfortunately. It’ll probably be relevant later in the series and possibly age this post like milk but for now, we’re not here to focus on the how, but the why.

Second is that the intro and the ending of Ep 2 literally show Fionna’s world spilling right out of Simon’s head like an animated world out of a frozen brain. If that isn’t clear enough-

There’s no other explanation for this other than that this world is artificial or influenced by Simon in some sense. Fionna even specifies that the statue went under renovation 12 years ago, but nobody seems to know who it is. Considering how Finn looks in the episode, it’s likely that it’s been that long since Betty’s sacrifice in the finale.

With that out of the way, here it goes.

The reason Fionna and Cake exist in the first place is because the creators found Natasha Allegri’s genderswap designs charming and wanted an in-universe reason to use them the Ice King wanted to create trashy, wish fulfillment through art. It was a phase.

Definitely changed that image for publishing.

Simon can argue if they’re good or bad but it’s undeniably his art. It’s not just a portfolio he left behind in a closet, it’s an experience that was shared with a larger audience.

And even if wasn’t liked at first, the citizens of Ooo seemed to have come around to it. And some of them love it!

Whether Simon likes it or not, he has a fan base that is so endeared to the story he made all those years ago that they demand he makes more. Why let a good story, loved by many, go to rest when you still have some life and creativity left in you?

Can't move on in more ways than one.

Except, the problem is that Simon isn’t Ice King anymore. He’s aged out of it.

His real passion is history, he's an adult who who finds passion in the mundane and antiques from the past. And frankly, there isn’t much room for wish-fulfillment and fantasy anymore. Simon has responsibilities. He has a job and a daughter in a world that is moving faster than he can process.

And where Ice King wrote about looking for love, Simon has already had it.

And lost it. His mind isn’t focused on the rosiness of finding new love, it’s grieving the one he already thought was the one.

Wasn't he supposed to be good with kids?

Despite his new life experiences, all his peers seem to want from him is to make more of what they’re familiar with.

A story made from wants and wishes that he doesn’t even have anymore.

A story that was literally made by someone else at a different time. It’s a fiction he cannot connect to anymore, art that he’s embarrassed by. Yet also jealous of. Because at one point, the body Simon used to be in understood what exactly was missing from his life and could express that easily.

Seeing it again is like experiencing a retrospection of a cringey loser you don’t want to imagine having ever been. It’s not you anymore, and you don’t want to be reminded of that.

Because despite him having a new creative passion, no one seems to care about that. All they want is Fionna and Cake. And what is more lonely than other people misunderstanding what you’re trying to express?

If I failed to make it clear somehow, my theory is that: Simon’s relationship with Fionna and Cake is a metaphor for creators growing out of their art. And this new Fionna and Cake world is still comfort art born out of Simon’s current desires and perceptions.

The snippet subtitles this “child holding a phone”. I guess I’m wrong. Essay over.

Episode 1 and 2 both have direct parallels with each other. They’re both about a protagonist who are feeling displaced from their world, living a phase of losing a significant other, leaving a thankless job, wearing a mask of stability in front of the people they care for, seeking a guru at the heart of the forest, and concluding that they no longer belong in their current world.

But more importantly, Fionna and Cake (the characters, the world, and the show) are no longer for an all-ages crowd. Fionna and Cake now feature young adults, curses, gore, alcohol, partial nudity, financial issues, morning routines, mid-life crisis, and overt suicidal ideation. These are the feelings that Simon relates to and possibly desires to express through art. Thus, his story and our new miniseries have warped that way.

Am I overthinking this? No. How dare you assume that.

Is equating the unconscious writings of his dementia-ridden self to Simon as his younger self seem a bit odd? ….Kinda. Again, it’s not the how but the why that matters in this case. I'm NOT crazy, I have proof that there is some acknowledgment of this directly in the show.

Rewatch the bar scene and apply this reading of the episode to what Simon says there:

“Your old stuff, Fionna and Cake, honest to glob my man, is an inspiration to me.”

“My old stuff, I don’t really want to talk about my old stuff…”

“Why not? You should be proud! You wrote an entire extended universe in a fugue state if you think about it.”

If you have ever shared art with a group of people in the past, you’ve had this conversation.

Not likely, not possibly, no perhapses. You HAVE.

And Fionna and Cake being an epilogue to a massive award-winning, near-decade-spanning, cultural sensation 5 years after it ended, might result in its creators feeling very retrospective about what audiences want from them now.

And how difficult it’s going to be to tell new experiences and tones from what’s come before. Also, come on. “Extended Universe?” That doesn’t sound like Fionna and Cake. That sounds a lot like something else.

Again, seems bad with this kid.

One of the more profound shots in the main trailer for the show features the inconspicuously Finn-like kid crouching at her Fionna and Cake book in Simon’s trash. I believe this character is going to have a major role in two ways. Convincing Simon to be proud of what he’s accomplished and/or embracing that Simon wants to move away from his original work in order to create something new, or perhaps more likely, reinvent Fionna and Cake into what Simon relates to now.

We’ll just have to see what Simon thinks of his new Fionna next week.

Moderneopets Artist Mistreatment

As far as I'm concerned he has officially handled the situation as best as he could, and I hold no further qualms with Moderneopets. I hope to hear of its management continuing in this direction.

Hello, I’m wren. I'm an artist responsible for some of the pet assets on the neoclone, Moderneopets. I'm just going to get into it.

Hazer was extremely lucky to somehow cultivate a dense group of largely professional artists to work together to make assets for his site. When it comes to his own management as a site runner, he’s largely hands-off of the art department, which is a good thing! If he can’t be active in the art panel enough to know what goes on in there, he shouldn’t be running it— we have many strong, capable artists on the team who are passionate about recreating the neopets style, who work together on every pet that has been released ever since critique became a requirement. 

It makes sense that, with a project this large, Hazer should have to designate moderators to enforce rules when he is absent. Choosing to bring on moderators was also a good decision. Unfortunately, he chose poorly. 

Art panel issues should have separate Art panel moderators to take care of them. People who are not overburdened with generic moderation duties from the many other channels of the server, for example. In the same vein, artists should not be moderators. When an artist has an issue with another artist, who happens to be a moderator (which has happened many times, with many people— If the mods actually open threads for all complaints they receive, they should have evidence of this & if they don’t they are not being truthful), the artist would likely not feel comfortable approaching that same artist-slash-moderator to complain about what happened. It breeds an aura of fear and discomfort any time there is an issue with an artist/mod, and that is why the two moderators on the team should have to choose one or the other if hazer wants to cultivate a healthy atmosphere in his panel. 

I’ve created many pets for this website. Neopets has been a passion of mine since the third grade. I’m also one of those professional artists I mentioned— my work is also art, industry or otherwise. I care about breaking neopets down into their core, recognizable shapes. I care about keeping them on-model and in the spirit of the original TNT art team, with improvements made where I and the other panelists think they make sense. I have redlined for other artists to an even greater degree, just as other artists have redlined for me and helped me finalize each pet into something simply good: something that made sense to get put on a little passion project website for other people with a similar passion to enjoy. I found the panel to be a community of likeminded artists with which to discuss our favorite childhood petsite while we made art for a clone, as if we could pretend we were making art for neopets-dot-com. It was nice. 

It wasn’t perfect, though. In fact, shortly after I joined in 2021 I took a hiatus because the art panel was fairly dead. I came back a little while later to see we had several new species, as well as an art director, and lots of activity! That was very exciting. Over the next year I would reach out to the panel or, if nobody was sure of how to proceed, I would reach out to the art director to propose ideas for how to make the panel a little more functional; quality of life updates, if you will. I don’t take credit for all of these alone, there were other artists with similar ideas all communicating to the director in private, but some examples: 

A designated “collab” zone where artists could seek out other artists to complete pets with. 

“The Purge,” in which the team was whittled down to ~25 current, active artists to refresh the team and allow for new artists to join. 

“The Approval System,” which I first sat down with in my workshop (public to all artists) to hammer out the details with as many other artists as wanted to give their input— a method for pitching new ideas to eventually break through the “new species/color freeze” that had been plaguing us.

Speaking on the approval system: like most things that required Hazer’s direct input in the art team, it was left without response for a very long time. Artists with ideas for custom species or colors would occasionally murmur about their excitement for the system to get a look-over by hazer, to see if our approval system pitch would be approved. But hazer is busy, as we all know, and the pitch sat for a while. We had new & returning artists on the team to keep everyone busy. 

What I would expect from a years-old panel of artists, when new additions arrive, would be some manner of tutorial. New artists would need to know the pipeline (here’s your workshop, you can post WIPs and anything else in there; here’s how you ping for critique, here are the spaces in which to ask for it; make sure you always ping before your work is submitted on-site), and there would likely be some acclimating on both sides. What I did not expect (but should have), was pushback from new artists on things that hadn’t had pushback in a long time. Why can’t [x] color be a posechange? Well, we’ve created many already and none of them were posechanges. Why can’t I use colored lineart? Well, that isn’t in line with the style standards set by this color; see, nobody else is coloring their lineart. 

Suddenly there was a divide between veteran artists, the director, and the new blood. The divide felt greater when Hazer came to his new artist’s aid to say, approximately: “Eh, if someone wants to go above and beyond and make better art, they shouldn’t have to adhere to the guidelines.” Then he threw the art director under the bus for not somehow knowing that his intentions were always to keep the panel loose and unstructured. But don’t worry, that isn’t the first bus and won’t be the last.

My personal investment in the panel waned around that time. I think a structured “work” environment with easily accessible rules and deadlines is necessary to any project of this size. If we didn’t want to enforce color standards, nor prioritize certain colors for release, and anyone could just submit whatever Nice Art they wanted, why not open it up so any user could submit pet art? Why have a panel at all? Isn’t Hazer taking any opportunity to dunk on Leopets because he wants his site to be better? How is this different? 

But I stuck around. This was a hobby I really enjoyed, after all, and I really believed it could get better. It had a good core, and despite my grievances with individual artists, none of them were bad people. 

But I noticed some trends. New artists would receive feedback that they didn’t agree with and retaliate by bringing in their emotions or personal preferences. Any disagreement where multiple veteran artists stepped in to say their piece would escalate to the point of very long messages on both sides, and would need to be left to hazer to give a final input. Often he didn’t come around to it, because he’s busy, as we know. I didn’t step in to every argument; they became cyclical after a while, and I didn’t have the time or energy to spend simply tapping the proverbial sign (or style sheet). I would try to give positive suggestions when I could, for example: I don’t think this color needs another alt for just one single design, but we did talk about eventually making this color that your design would fit into really well. 

I’ve done my time having arguments on the internet. I really just want an art environment where the rules are set and people actually enjoy following them, because I do— I see art rules as helpful guidelines at best and obstacles to cleverly navigate at worst, which is still fun. But of course not everyone is going to feel the same way, that’s normal; that’s life. 

On 11/9 I was given this message by Hazer: 

It reads:

Hello wren,

I am reaching out to you today to inform you that effective immediately you are being dismissed from the Artist and Consultant Panels. This decision has been reached through discussions and based on repeated offences in the form of user harassment and subjecting the panels to a toxic atmosphere, after multiple reports and concerns brought up to us by other users.

While we understand concerns regarding panel management, there is a distinct difference between criticising and condeming the way the panel does things and criticising and condeming users that are on the panel, and we believe this line has been crossed one too many times, further supported by concerns brought to us.

We appreciate the passion and drive of our team—all of them—and we understand you have been very passionate about the panel. Given some of the messages we see, we have also concluded that due to things in the panel not working out as you have wished, it has caused you much stress and upset as well, which we do not want. All in all, we've decided that the atmosphere of the panel and your own enjoyment of the website are hampered by your presence on it. Because of this, we have decided it is best to have you part ways with the staff sections of the website.

Effective immediately after this message, we will be permanently removing you from the panels. While normally we do a temporary removal, in this case we've seen that your compatability with our management and handling of the panel will not improve, and it will just bring stress to both sides.

We understand you have put a lot of passion into the projects you have been working on for release in Moderneopets, and in lieu of that, we offer you the option of having the project(s) still be released even after dismissal. Rewards will still be granted for releases per usual, and credit will still be given. If you decide, due to dismissal, you do not want your unreleased work to be released on Moderneopets, simply state it as such, and we will discard all progress on projects you have been working on to respect those wishes.

This decision is final and will not be revoked.

Hazer didn’t have an answer for me. I was already removed from the panel. 

This came as a shock. I’d been there for over two years, I felt I had a good rapport with the other artists, I felt I’d been a helpful and active addition to the team. Like I said, I’ve done my time having arguments on the internet… what toxic behavior? Discussions over style guides? Giving redlines to people with permission? Working with the whole team to bolster several new color releases? I had an entire species that Hazer wanted ready to go since March— I just pushed through the Swamp Gas release, I just created the Mystical alt? 

No warnings?

Let me reiterate: I have never been spoken to by any staff about my behavior. Hazer, his then-four moderators— none of them have ever been in my DMs to issue a warning. I have spoken TO the mods about others’ behaviors, and nothing ever came of it. The one time (and I mention this for full transparency only) the art director came to talk to me about something I said, it was stated clearly that it was not a warning, and even so I adjusted my behavior around said issue accordingly. And that was well before the purge. 

But, don’t take my word for it. Here it is from hazer himself, speaking over his mods who were busy telling the rest of the panel that they always issue warnings:

Two other artists immediately stepped down. Hazer admits here in his message that he and the mods had multiple tickets opened about my behavior, that they had known they wanted to remove me. They never gave a warning, never talked to me until the moment of my dismissal, but they had known it was coming for months? 

Why did Hazer and his gang of mods let me continue working on art for their panel? Why did they let me work so hard to pull Swamp Gas together for an official release? Why did they let me put together a whole custom Alt and workshop it for so long? I’ve been active this whole time. Why did you let me keep working if you knew you wanted me gone? 

I am a professional artist. My work is art. Hazer made the knowing decision to exploit my time and effort for his website. He’s not paying me, he’s not paying any of us. It’s volunteer work. But I did not volunteer to be mistreated like this. To not even be given a chance to defend myself. To him, artists are disposable. To him, if someone has worked on your team for years but speaks up when your friend tries to overturn the system, even civil discussion is cause for disposal. Civil discussion negates years of effort, passion, time and care. 

I didn’t have to make art for you, Hazer. And you don’t deserve the team you have. How many artists have voiced their discomfort with your actions? How many artists are taking a break from the panel because of how you handled this? Ah, wait, you wouldn’t know… you’re busy. 

Hazer and his mod team are just another corrupt group of individuals unfortunately heading what could have been a fun and promising petsite. Everyone who speaks praise of modneo does it by and large because of the new and unique art. Hazer was extremely lucky to cultivate a dense group of largely professional artists to work together to make assets for his site. 

If Hazer wants to show any sign of his potential to be a better person, I believe he needs to formally apologize to his site for the misuse of his power and the mistreatment and exploitation of artists on his team. He needs to apologize to you, the players of his game, the subscribers to his patreon, for allowing this to happen under his watch and under his word. You know you fucked up, hazer. You shouldn’t have sided with your friend without any actual evidence of misconduct. You shouldn’t have spoken about me like I was a toxic, subhuman hindrance to your art team. You shouldn’t have treated me like that. I didn’t deserve it. None of us did. You can apologize to me and the other lost artists publicly.

✧ let’s start with some negative things that happened during the promotion period. The number one thing was that knetizens didn’t like how much skin Joohyung was showing with all of her stage outfits

✧ Joohyung didn’t have a safety undergarment for her chest area. Knetizens were saying how inappropriate it was and that her stylist “should’ve known better”. Joohyung shut those knetizens up by posting many photos of herself in those “revealing” outfits with the caption ‘I love being me🥰’

✧ another controversy was Joohyung’s tattoos and how their staff didn’t cover them up with tape. As everyone knows when idols have tattoos and they go on music shows they have to cover them up with body tape, but for Joohyung she didn’t want to and the staff just let it slide plus the music bank staff didn’t mind it either

✧ how many lines Joohyung got for txt’s title track ‘Deja Vu’. Even though Joohyung wrote the song and mostly produced the song she got one second lines, only ad-lids, and the only time you fully hear Joohyung’s line is towards the end of the song. This cause a division online with some moas. One side was mad at bighit for only giving their genius idol so little lines for the title track even though she created the masterpiece. The another side was fine with the little lines because Joohyung gets the dance break and the iconic kick

✧ the final thing is Joohyung got no solo variety show appearances. Throughout all of txt’s career Joohyung hasn’t gotten any solo variety shows appearances. This is also a debate if Joohyung even wants to go by herself or just rather stick with going with her members instead

✧ aside from all the negativity there was a lot of good things that happened during the promotional time. Even thought some people didn’t like the styling for dumb reasons many actually really liked all of Joohyung’s outfits. Many started recreating and posing tiktoks about getting the ‘Joohyung look’

✧ Joohyung’s stylist wasn’t the only one getting praise Joohyung’s makeup artist was getting praise for using gems and glitter as tears (ex: 1, 2, 3) since the song is a more emotional and the makeup artist want to emulate pretty tears in her art

✧ Joohyung’s stage presence and acting during every single performance shocked everyone. Joohyung expressed the sad emotions of the song beautifully that it even got the locals talking about how they never seen someone acting so well, while singing and dancing not looking tried or missing a beat. Because of all the big twitter accounts talking about Joohyung and sharing her fancams along with trending, Hybe did get some exciting emails from movie/shows production teams

✧ speaking of singing, Joohyung vocals were a big topic online. Joohyung was praised for her raw vocals even though she had little lines she made sure to sing them along with her ad-lids. Moas that went in person to the music shows said that ‘Joohyung unnie was always louder than the back track!’. During the encore stages Joohyung would give extra ad-lids and little highs notes that were considered but not made into the final production of ‘Deja Vu’

✧ another viral moment while performing their title track was towards the end of the inkigayo stage after the dance break/kick Joohyung was able to shed a tear while singing passionately. The camera man deserves a rise because he zoomed in just in time to capture the viral moment. Online many moas in ‘awe’ and rightfully so bragging about their idol, and the other moas were making jokes;

‘ why is she singing like she just got divorced and got separated from her kids😭’

‘ did members not want to cuddle backstage 💀’

‘ she just wiped her tear, smiled, and wave then just walked off stage like nothing happened she was like 😢😐🤗🚶🏻‍♀️’

✧ the two members who constantly don’t think they’re cute have been proved wrong again. Both Joohyung and Taehyun had sharp eyes during their end pose, and once the staff yelled ‘cut’ their eyes instantly went big and sparkling. Once again proving everyone right, they are the cutest

✧ Joohyung performing’ISYTT’ just causing heart attacks because of her mischievous and flirty actions towards the camera

✧ articles having the headlines saying ‘Gen Z ‘it’ siblings strike again with a new trend’ the article was talking about how Yeonjun and Joohyung kept on showing the top of underwear (ex) especially in the ‘ISYTT’ performances

✧ during this era Joohyung was more on the quiet side, but she was very unintentionally cute. There was many clips of Joohyung just being in her own world zoning out, members taking care of her, and treating her like the maknae

On December 7th, 2023, Neal Shusterman made this post to his various social media accounts - I took the screenshot from his Twitter.

Neal does fanart promotion all the time, so this was nothing out of the ordinary for him, except that even though I’ve only read half of Gleanings, I could immediately tell that this wasn’t a character from Gleanings, with the obvious clue being that Rowan is the only character in the series to have ever worn a black robe, and this clearly isn’t supposed to be him.

You’ll notice I blurred the artist’s name here - I did that intentionally so they don’t face harassment from people who didn’t read my post closely enough, but if you want to support her work you can easily find this post on Neal’s socials and get her username (while it’s linked on all of his social medias, the username corresponds to an Instagram account).

To me, this post screamed AI generated artwork, and the more I looked into it, the worse it seemed to get. The cover of the copy of Gleanings in that “photo” is in German - the artist Neal credited does not seem to speak any German whatsoever. In that case, why would they pick a copy of Gleanings in a language they don’t speak to overlay this art? The artist Neal credited never posted this piece of artwork, although they had made a different piece of fanart for the series that was in a completely different style to this one. The style of the piece of AOAS fanart the artist posted THEMSELVES had a completely different art style from the art Neal credited them with.

I ended up reaching out to the artist and asked if they had actually drawn this art piece, or if they knew who did. They responded today.

(My message before I sent the screenshot to them was apologizing for confusing wording in my original messages, and the fact Instagram’s crappy messaging system never sent them the art piece I was asking about in the first place. This confused the artist, which is partially my fault since I used a translator app to translate my message into their native language, which I’m sure screwed up grammar somewhere. I wanted to make sure they knew I wasn’t accusing THEM of using AI, but rather suspecting someone was using AI and saying they drew the AI generated art.)

So, Neal, or someone who manages his social media, put this artist in a damn hard spot and told everyone that the artist made something that was made by AI. And again, absolutely no hate or disrespect to the artist, they didn’t know this was happening and they were very kind and understanding. If you do seek out their account, give them a follow!

Veneer was the “golden child” of the family. He was always spoiled and loved by his parents, but that only made Velvet jealous. He didn’t like all the attention because he never got alone time. Veneer did even more than Velvet; he was in dance company, arts committee, dance outside of school, track, tennis, choir, and show choir. Even when Velvet was struggling with her ex, their parents didn’t comfort her. It was Veneer. He spends most of his time giving her the attention she never got from home.

Extremely protective

He absolutely loves his people. Veneer is extremely protective of his friends and sister. One time, Kid Ritz was getting flamed on social media, so Veneer backed him up. He said: “dont be sayin shit abt ppl when u know it aint true. kid ritz is one of my best friends and if yall start being bitchy towards him imma be bitchy towards yall”

Theatre Kid

Veneer was a huge theatre kid. He did a lot of productions during middle school; his first production he ever did he got a lead role. He was Sebastian in the Little Mermaid.

He is surprisingly strong. Veneer isn’t muscular or buff, but he can beat a bitch. He got into many fights in school and won almost all of them, but he doesn’t like to admit it. He has a killer grip, and that is why he could catch Velvet before she fell when Floyd flew out of the shoulder pads.

He started smoking when he was around 16. Veneer would steal cigarettes from his grandmother and smoke them at home. His dumbass got addicted and it was very bad, but Velvet helped him quit. He was only a few months sober when they became famous.

Veneer loves shopping! When he was a kid, he’d beg to go to the mall, and he’d buy so much stuff. He knows he has a bit of a spending problem, but why worry? He has money! Anyway, he always wants to go to the mall or even just the grocery store to buy something. Veneer likes to buy matching outfits or accessories for him and Velvet.

i’m leaving tumblr, and here’s why (with receipts):

so i’ve recently been informed that i’ve been accused of being anti-black by @ava-du-mortain. this person is blocked but they have watched my blog for years, made multiple posts about me, but also started going into the direct messages of people who interact with me calling me racist.

firstly: i am not anti-black. i’m not racist. or at least i try my best not to be, and correct behaviors that are. please read this post in full before making assumptions about me.

(and for the record: i am not, and never have been, @songofsoma, but pap seems to be accrediting some of her posts to me (as seen above). she is her own autonomous person who has made apologies and will make her own response to this on her own blog.)

i have never ever engaged in arguing with pap out of hope they would leave me alone (block and move on is my motto) but this has continued, so i feel the need to now since the harassment has gotten so extreme and ended so many relationships. already pap has also gone to the lengths to message two separate artists that i have commissioned and paid money to. this has caused these artists to either cancel their commissions, block, or unfollow me (though both refunded me and were very kind in their parting). i covered their users to protect them from harassment.

in addition, a ton of mutuals have unfollowed me and deleted my art from their blog. i hope it’s a knee jerk reaction to such a terrible accusation. and i hope they’ll read my side of the story below.

now for the accusations which have apparently warranted this level of stalking and harassment in response from pap:

first accusation: i spoke over poc voices.

my response: in october of 2022, pap was involved in harassing a small blog run by a POC for saying that nate was manipulative. this person romanced nate. it wasn’t a hate post.

for days, people in pap’s circle continued posting about them, and they were dogpiled by this friend group even after they apologized. as the dogpiling continued, i stepped in as a white person with a larger platform than them. i asked for their permission to step in and defend them. they agreed and thanked me.

this was the post i made:

i wasn’t trying to speak over anyone. i was using my platform to speak up in defense of a POC who was being bashed for talking about a POC character. however, i shouldn’t have done this. because whatever my intentions, ultimately i am a white person and it’s not my discourse to comment on. i was speaking out of turn. i’ve talked to POC friends since and they’ve told me this as well, and i listened to both them and pap, and i haven’t done anything like that again. so i’m genuinely very sorry, it was in poor taste, and i hope the fact that sort of behavior hasn’t repeated reflects the sincerity of that.

second accusation: in chapter 9 my fic, wants and wishes, they say i falsely accused felix of assaulting a white woman and then had him violently assaulted.

my response: this is, frankly, the most baffling accusation to me.

in chapter 9 of wants and wishes, frankie has a hickey on her neck from adam. when this is pointed out, adam deflects and says it could have been one of the other three members of unit bravo. the three boys begin to argue about who, other than adam, is most likely to have given her a hickey. at one point during the argument mason grabs felix by the shirt.

so a hickey that adam gave frankie and then tries to blame on the other members of unit bravo has been described as felix, a black man, being accused of choking frankie, a white woman. and mason grabbing felix by the shirt has been described as a violent assault. i really don’t know what to say about this, other than, to my knowledge, no one who has ever read wants and wishes has interpreted this chapter as that. including people of color.

i encourage you to read this chapter for yourself and then decide if it’s a black man being accused of assaulting a white woman and being violently assaulted rather than taking pap’s word. they linked the chapter but i don’t know how many people actually read it as opposed to just believing it.

also, what baffles me further: worse things happen to f in the games than having their shirt grabbed by mason? like, the fights with the trappers? getting injured in book 2? and murphy, who pap writes fanfiction about, actually violently attacks f and throws them into a wall so hard they can’t get back up in book one. but to my knowledge, pap has never called mishka out for writing a black man being violently assaulted, just me for having mason grab his shirt.

third accusation: i called a black person aggressive

my response: four years ago in the fall of 2019, i made an online friend. we were on and off talking for months, in the same servers, and shared some oc stuff together.

sometimes friendships don’t work. it happens with teenagers. i told them that me and some people found the jokes they made about other people’s OCs mean in nature.

i’m sensitive, i have autism, i take things literally by accident sometimes. i’ve grown up a lot since then, but when i was 18/19, if someone called my character stupid i wouldn’t realize it was a joke, and i would get hurt. when i communicated this, my friend disagreed that their jokes were mean. we stopped talking. later, i was accused of playing into the aggressive black stereotype by pap.

i was trying to communicate a boundary that i felt had been crossed in our friendship. i do not remember calling them aggressive, i haven’t seen any screenshots of me calling them aggressive, but this was years ago in 2021. i do know i called them mean for sure. possibly rude too.

i’m 22 now, i’ve been in therapy and learned about social scripts for autism, and if i were to be presented with this situation again i think i would handle explaining my feelings and setting my boundaries better. using words like mean aren’t a good way to set a boundary, they just make people defensive. but ultimately i can’t go back in time to when i was 19, so all i can do is grow from it and not do it again. and i haven’t.

and i doubt this past friend wants to talk to me, but i’m going to unblock them on discord if they want to me to make a personal apology to them for that. i’m not going to apologize to pap, the grown person who was not involved in this conflict between teenagers.

when people of color began pointing out stretches in pap’s evidence against me, they deleted the comments and made this post, telling the non-black POC who disagreed with them and defended me to straight up die.

so take that as you will.

i’ve made mistakes but i’ve never told any person who disagrees with me to die, even as a joke. that’s genuinely so fucked to do to another human when you don’t know what’s going on behind the screen.

conclusion: i really don’t understand why pap feels the need to go to such extremes over what happened in 2021 between me and someone who isn’t even them, or why they lied about the choking in that wants and wishes chapter. however i acknowledge my wrongdoing in involving myself in the race discourse surrounded nate, and again i apologize. truly, sincerely, deeply.

pap obviously doesn’t want me to grow from this situation or acknowledge that i might have since i was 19. but i’m going to try to anyway. fortunately i have POC friends both online and in real life who will call me out when i make mistakes like that nate post, and allow me to make amends and improve. and ultimately it’s their opinions that matter to me—not pap’s, or strangers online who have never met me.

you can believe i’m anti-black and unfollow me if you want. i understand. do whatever you need to feel safe in this space. that’s why i’ve been trying to do by avoiding this pap. i hope now that i’ve responded like they’ve wanted me to for years it will stop, but i doubt it. i’m sure they will tear this post apart in a response and call it insincere. there’s not really a point since i won’t be seeing it.

i don’t know if i’m ever returning. i love making wayhaven art but it’s just not worth it to stay in this environment.

this whole thing with pap on tumblr has started to affect me in my real life. in february i started being treated by a therapist for five years of childhood sexual abuse from my father and i was using wayhaven as an unhealthy distraction from it. that’s why i wasn’t responding to the hate in my inboxes or the posts pap made. i’m in a fragile state and people around me were advising me not to because of that. but each time i ignored them their behavior would escalate, and now their messaging everyone i know that i’m racist and to not interact with me. it’s been really triggering in a lot of ways because i was shunned from my family when i tried to speak up and wasn’t believed. so i’m going to do what pap won’t and stop seeking out what’s having such a profoundly negative impact on me.

Hazbin Hotel: The Corruption of Creativity. Part 1

1. Introduction

Hello everyone, I normally don’t make huge posts like these, but I thought it would be important to make this review and discussion about the latest animated show on Amazon Prime, Hazbin Hotel, and the people behind the scenes who worked on the show, mostly the show creator Vivziepop. Back in 2019 when I first watched the animated pilot of Hazbin Hotel, I was interested to see how this show, if picked up, would go about with its story. Like many people who were still fans of Vivziepop’s work, I wanted to see this show become a good adult animated series. In fact, as the production was going on behind closed doors, I supported viv and her work via Patreon for a time and bought some merch from Sharkrobot.com to help fund her endeavors—I even still have my Angel Dust t-shirt and Hazbin Hotel poster in a black picture frame. 

2. Personal Fan Origins

Though I wasn’t an og follower of viv back in her older days on DeviantArt, I was introduced to her work around 2014-2015, that’s when I originally saw her fan-animated Kesha Die Young music video and since then I became a fan of her work and was obsessed with her means of creating very expressive and stylistic characters. Vivziepop was the artist who not only introduced me to the furry community, she was also a big inspiration for my artwork and still is to some extent now, had it not been for her, I don’t think I would’ve been in the position I’m in now to make art or it would’ve taken me much longer than where I started. 

But as much as I was a casual fan of her work, I was also a skeptic of her as a person over time. Primarily due to how she would be overly defensive towards criticism, radiate a toxic personality on others and friends of hers, and how she would intentionally and unintentionally weaponize her audience against those that landed on her blacklist. These traits would only become more apparent over time, but I like many others had the mindset of “separating the art from the artist” And while there is some validity to be made on that notion, it makes it all the harder when the person intentionally makes the art inseparable from who they are or they’re still active or alive and will constantly change their position or view on things. I know there’s a much deeper discussion to be had about this notion and how relevant it actually is, but for the sake of this post, I won’t dive into it that much. 

Watching Helluva Boss in 2019 onward would prove to be a conflicting experience since the first time watching the first season wasn’t as bad, some episodes had some strong character development, decent action scenes, and enjoyable songs. 2, 5, and 6 were some of my favorites in the series, but around season 2 episode 4, I was losing interest and I began to see the cracks in the show and noticed that the charm had dwindled going into the second season. Episode 6 was where I stopped which is funny because the last episode (at least currently) was episode 7 which I didn’t even bother to give any attention to because I didn’t like the show much anymore: The characters were losing whatever charm they had originally, making the characters I did like lose that vibe I enjoyed and those I didn’t like before I just didn’t care or it made it all the worse, the pacing didn’t get any better as the show was always going so quickly but rarely having time to sit down and digest even when there were scenes that had those moments, and for a show that would have differing times from 10-30 minutes, it made it all the more rushed, the stories were all over the place in a way I had no fun engaging with or could get behind, sometimes plot points like D.H.O.R.K.S’s evidence of demons would be revealed but never brought up again or have the same impact on the show, and some of the songs were forgettable (though I did enjoy Cotton Candy).

After I stopped giving HB a watch I decided to be patient and wait for when Hazbin Hotel would drop, and on January 18th, 2024, the first episode would drop to present the new show to the world.

3. Hazbin Hotel Review (Spoilers, Obviously)

Summary - 

Hazbin Hotel is an adult animated series about the daughter of Lucifer named Charlie Morning Star, a demon princess seeking to rehabilitate sinners in a less violent way to combat overpopulation in hell. Along the way, she manages to get support from the enigmatic radio demon named Alastor who helps Charlie and Vaggie bring in sinners in an attempt to redeem their souls for a price while trying to be as cooperative as she can with the odds stacked against her. 

When I first watched the premiere of the show, I wasn’t really blown away or impressed by it, which isn’t a bad thing since not a lot of shows have a strong start with their early episodes in the season. Where it did get interesting however was around 4-6 when it started to focus more on character development and give some time for the main cast to shine and maintain some consistency with the story, though this has its limits. There were also some decent songs, some funny dialogue, and even some sprinkling of action around the end. Unfortunately, in the later episodes, it started to fall back to where the show lost its touch. So let me get around to the pros and cons of Hazbin Hotel:

The Good -

As someone who felt burnt out from Helluva Boss, this is an improvement as far as comparing viv’s older work goes, which is a slight benefit. 

Performances are great as far as voices go, especially when you have people like Keith Davids in your line up, though I would be a little more positive on the casting choices if it didn’t also come at the cost of the old cast, I genuinely believe they should’ve been given additional voice roles if not main ones for the show, so that sucks. 

Songs can be hit or miss in this show, with More Than Anything (both the first and reprise) and Loser Baby being the better examples and the rest not sticking out to me as much, either because I don’t think they had as much impact or they felt out of left field. I think it would’ve been better to not have every episode with a song number unless it was a grand introduction to something (i.e. Poison, Loser Baby, More Than Anything). Though I don’t expect this to be a popular opinion so whatever

The visuals are fairly competent with few to no issues that caught my eye, my only critique would be that due to how fast everything feels it can be hard to follow what's all happening, not to mention having the background and background characters look as eye-catching as the main cast can throw people off of where they should put their focus on. It's not as terrible enough where I loathe it, but it could make some contrast of who/what you should pay more attention to. 

The Bad -

The story loses track of the main premise of Charlie trying to redeem sinners and her relationship with Vaggie. The side plots don’t interest me as much aside from Angel Dust and Husk having some empathy for each other slowly through the series, and the other main cast aren’t nearly explored as much. Idk the best way to describe it, but it seems that most of the focus of the side characters isn’t where it should be (the hotel’s residents) and more so on those outside the hotel, which I think would’ve worked better in the second season rather than just the first. If season one was just focusing on the residents, Charlie and Vaggie more than the other characters, I wouldn’t mind that. I think the only exceptions to this would be the hell overlords discovery of how to fight back and Lucifer helping Charlie with the hotel. But back to the main cast, Charlie and Vaggie’s moments of romance and bonding seem few and far between, which sucks since this is supposed to be about them right? RIGHT?! The potential is just wasted.

Not every song is needed or has a place in every episode, though that could be because I wasn’t feeling them as strongly compared to the ones mentioned. Not much else to say there that hasn’t already been said.

Characters don’t appeal to me as much aside from Niffty and Sir Pentious (they’re the best) and unfortunately, the characters I should care about don’t get enough time to shine due to how this show is hastily paced—which leads me to my next negative.

Pacing is absolutely atrocious, for episodes that last 30 minutes, it feels like everything has happened yet also little has happened in such a short period of time (which is insane to me) Viv has had pacing issues in the past with her work which is concerning to me, mostly because she wasn’t always this speedy with her series, there were times she had more breathing room for her older works for instances like the Son of 666 and Timber, even the short Bad Luck Jack (which I liked) suffered from this in ways. Idk what exactly happened, but it seems like viv’s workflow has just gotten worse over time, and her artistic magic, patience, etc has just vanished.

Jokes? For what attempt of humor was there, it was very little. Once in a while, there was a joke that stuck the landing or made me chuckle, such as Charlie and Alastor swearing unexpectedly, only because it’s so out of left-field you wouldn’t expect it, so the joke works. Or when Niffty and Sir Pentious act their usual awkward selves in front of others. But everything else is just not funny to me because the majority of the humor is either sex or profanity jokes that don’t have that great of build-up or go for something more than just “haha adult words” which ironically makes it more juvenile than adult. I don’t mind stupid humor, but make it funny and not because you want to say “fuck” for the sake of it. Even if it’s just for casual talk, it's overly excessive. It doesn’t hurt to find humor in other ways even if those don’t land either, it's better than just resorting to profanity and sex.

Additional Comments -

When it comes to Vivziepop’s older works, it’s better than Helluva Boss but weaker than her shorts or animated music videos (fan-made or original), the strongest elements within the series lie within the hump of the season and fall short from the beginning and end. Though as annoying as that is, it pales in comparison to the other elements in the show. 

Heaven’s methods of carrying out exterminations every year to dissuade the populace of hell from rebelling is just a very dumb thing to do when there are so many other ways to shatter the morale of a persecuted people or nation without lifting a single sword that would’ve been better implemented and create a larger divide between heaven and hell and less costly as well. Perhaps this is just to further showcase how arrogant and incompetent Heaven is, but I have my doubts on that. 

Alastor as a manipulative radio host works well between Charlie and Vaggie, though I wish they wouldn’t have explained his ties to the disappearances of hell’s overlords so soon, it just takes away from his mysterious nature as this eldritch being. That part to me would’ve worked later on. (Yeah, I’m also aware they did something similar in the pilot too, which brings up another issue I have) 

Continuity between the pilot and the first episode is pretty murky, it doesn’t help matters when the plot of the pilot and the series episodes get collaged in so haphazardly. If I never heard of Hazbin Hotel or Vivziepop’s work before, I’d kinda be thrown off a bit and try my best to catch up on what’s going on. I don’t expect an expose of how everything works, but an organic flow of how things come together would’ve been nice. For instance: the pilot itself feels more like an episode one than the actual episode 1 of the first season. I know the point of the pilot isn’t as strict in its rules, since it's supposed to sell an idea to a network or distributor. Hell, The Amazing Digital Circus does something similar to how Hazbin Hotel does with presenting a first-episode introduction into the world and characters, only it does it far better and it hasn’t even gotten its first episode out yet, but I don’t want to compare apples to oranges on two different shows. The point is, the first episode should’ve had a better flow to it or at least maintained something more consistent like the pilot did. 

But by far the most glaring problem in the show isn’t part of the show itself believe it or not. But to keep this short, I’ll leave that for part 2. 

4. End of Part 1 

Originally when I watched the series I gave this a 7/10 on IMDB because I came at this from a perspective of how I would judge the work based on viv’s prior craft, this gave it a point above Helluva Boss, primarily with pacing, and direction of what it should be about and where to focus the story and characters. That being said, I was being very generous and didn’t also factor in on how it stood on its own two feet, and to be honest? It's not that good. For the first season of a new adult animated show, it’s too rushed, and not fleshed out enough in areas where it needs to be, The majority of the characters I have little interest or investment in, and despite having its moments, it's not enough to keep me hooked to know what happens within the next season. 

This would bring it down to 1 point for that to a 6/10, I know some fans would put the blame on Amazon, A24, or Bento, but here’s the thing, other shows have had episodes with similar limited space and time to tell their stories yet do a far more superior job in doing so than this, from what I understand, Amazon seems pretty open for a studio big or small to do as they please with what resources they have to get out what they can regardless of the restraint of episodes to be made, thereby making studios try their best to work harder on making a show work with such little episodes, so I see this mostly as a personal thing with viv and her team than just amazon. 

Now I would just leave it at that and move on, but I’m afraid this is where things get more muddy and grim.

my experience with the hazbin/helluva hatedom and how I continued to hate myself from there on TW: vent/s*icide/problematic stuff

I guess I was lowkey kinda young when I found out about Hazbin/helluva (around 2023 and I am a minor around 12-18) I know i shouldn’t be watching that shit and considering how bad the fandom is now with kids I feel guilty but it wasn’t that “big” back then I didn’t like it at first but then I tried it some more there was too many cursing it kinda made me scared for once and a while but I sorta liked it? Maybe because it was my first experience with violent content? Idk ajsjdj

I guess it was a primary fandom I was really into as embarrassing as it I just fell in love with the characters and lore a little “too fast” this was such a fun fandom to make aus and theories because of how fun the lore was it wasn’t good at all but atleast I had “fun” right? Sometimes now I thinking about it I was too obsessed with it and hell I was so distracted by all the fun stuff about it that I forgot about the criticism in the first place i wasn’t immune I tried to take it by watching videos online but it was….. harsh…. And shit hell sometimes I was kinda immune bc I still needed to continue most of hb lol but…I guess it got to a point where it felt…kinda bad maybe “too” flawed so I got scared I had experience with my interests being despised before and I didn’t want the same to happen again so I tried to defend it and that’s where the creator….comes in…..

“the chasm of john wanting a new creative partner” this is interesting because we have some anecdotes about how j&y worked separately more or less, including Sean asserting they never collaborated even though John would’ve liked to which I’m assuming Yoko told him herself. So John in 68 was in a marriage he long outgrew and his creative relationship with Paul was suffering as well; if only because it wasn’t easy as it used to be and Paul often having a preconceived vision seemed to leave John feeling isolated. All these factors seemed to result in John just wanting to devote himself full time to loving another person and so made his relationship with Yoko their art (I’m thinking of when he said it was in India that he realized Yoko loving him was the solution, and a big part of it was she made him feel confident again). The way he would excitedly stress that Yoko was an all in one card and then later on he was like ‘actually artists can’t work together’ seems to be to an extent another instance of John’s expectations falling short and pivoting. It appears John just really wanted exclusivity and it doesn’t seem like he ever expected Paul to be able to do that for him not that it made things any less weird with them. And by 68 Paul seemed totally preoccupied with his own hectic life and spread himself thin whereas Yoko mutually encouraged having John all to herself (“you must never do anything without me” in the revolution tapes) and in fact she seems to have been the one to first show belly in terms of real vulnerability by vocalizing her need and want for John which probably made him feel loved and safe in mirroring it back. Like this is is wild “John is such a genius. This is the first time that just once in a while, I almost get jealous of his talent, which is really amazing because I was never jealous of any artist. Whenever I get sad about his work, I almost feel like kneeling down and kissing his feet.” Anyway not sure exactly what I was trying to say after all this 😭

yeah, i think there's an argument to be made that if it wasn't yoko, john would've simply found something else to use as an excuse to pull away from being a beatle (and therefore paul). it's like the trepanning post going around - john had his fads (for lack of a better term), and when they stopped working as medicine/distraction from his own loneliness and myriad other issues, he became disillusioned and stopped believing in them. it happened with paul, and it happened with yoko to an extent. neither of which were results of like one single enlightening event (india), but probably a progression in those relationships that he was unhappy with and didn't know how to communicate with each respective partner.

the following is essentially about being in a discord server that had both minors (15+) and adults in it and the complications i had in that environment.

one thing that happened a while ago involved a situation within a fandom discord server that idk how tf to even explain the situation to a professional without feeling like an idiot. an adult artist had a character that other people in the server liked. one time that person posted something they drew of that character topless with a message about how boobs shouldn’t be sexual which is absolutely right. but then the others + the artist started making comments about the character’s boobs that i became very confused with how to interpret. my brain was like “are the intent of these comments to be suggestive/sexual in nature or am i being an ignorant asshole for interpreting them as such and it’s because i’m being the problem and seeing boobs themselves as a sexual?” it was even more complicated because the people involved in making these comments were underage. it got even even more complicated because then some of these underage people started drawing the character topless with more comments that i didn’t know how to interpret. one of these people at some point told the original artist that they would privately dm them the more nsfw drawings they were doing. and everyone seemed to be having a good time going “BOOBS 👀👀” and all that and the channel was going crazy. but i was getting so uncomfortable and confused. and i felt like such an asshole. because i like boobs too and society shouldn’t see them as something inherently sexual. but the underage folk being involved made it so complicated for my brain. because if some random person not involved with the server looked in on what was happening, couldn’t it be seen as minors making and sending an adult nsfw art? even though it was very likely NOT the intention of the original artist.

what i ended up doing was bringing my concerns to the server owner, which was responded well to. a rule was put in place about sharing nsfw stuff. but i felt so guilty about it. i felt like i was being a party pooper and ruining people’s fun. i still wasn’t sure if i was even doing the right thing and if it was a problem within me and not with what happened. i was born into a conservative religious background so it was only when i became more independent and was allowed access to the internet that i got to start to unlearn the bad things that were taught to me. that background is something i’m trying so hard to separate myself from, but it’s something that i’m afraid will haunt me. was what happened in the server not actually a problem, and it was because my brain wants to do the bad society thing and interpret boobs as sexual? did i ruin everyone’s fun because i’m just an ignorant asshole who got uncomfy at something i shouldn’t be getting uncomfy about? i still don’t know. anyway, i ended up leaving the server because i just couldn’t enjoy it anymore. once in a while that original artist’s stuff pops up naturally in my feed because we’re still in the same fandom, but i can’t even look at their art or even their name without feeling all the confusion and guilt again. which i feel terrible about because they seemed like a really nice person and they’re a great artist! and i really don’t think they had any bad intentions at all when that situation in the server happened. but i just can’t do it.

that situation was the first moment i truly realized just how scary it is and careful you have to be when you’re in an online environment where adults and minors can freely interact. it’s easy to forget ages when you’re just a profile picture, and how easy it can be to influence someone young, and how dangerous that is, whether your intentions are good or not. it made me realize that i don’t want to be in that type of server where you’re directly interacting with underage people. because i’m a fucking mess and i don’t know what the hell i’m doing 90% of the time. i don’t want to somehow mess up a kid! even if it’s an accident i didn’t want to risk having that accident happen in the first place. it’s one of the reasons why i can’t bring myself to ever draw and post nsfw art anywhere either. i just feel so uncomfortable about it. to me it’s fine if others do it if they’re doing it in a safe way with the necessary precautions, and they shouldn’t feel shame in it! it’s just not something i feel comfortable doing myself.

I’d like to preface everything by saying that this will be my last post regarding the situation. The intention behind this post is to provide transparency and context regarding recent events involving @/saintsugu (Ezra). The goal of this post (as was the first) is to promote awareness about this individual and clarify on some points, not to initiate a witch hunt or encourage any form of targeted negativity. I want to make it clear that I do not condone any form of death threats, hate speech, harassment, or violence towards this person.

1.) Turning off asks and reblogs.

I made the decision to turn off reblogs and asks in the original post.

Disabling reblogs and asks was necessary because some individuals were using the situation to bring up their own personal issues, using it as an opportunity to call for the “cancellation” of other unrelated parties and openly harass others on the dashboard. This decision aimed to refocus the discussion on the main issue at hand. It was about maintaining a controlled environment to address the specific concerns without veering into unrelated personal disputes. Nothing else.

2.) Hotline numbers.

There’s been speculation that the addition of hotline numbers was to encourage users to report the individual in question and have him investigated by the FBI, that is not the case.

These numbers serve a crucial purpose in emphasizing the importance of support and resources for those affected by sensitive issues such as CSA. The aim is to proactively contribute to creating a safer online space. The inclusion of the hotline numbers solely emphasizes a more proactive approach towards promoting mental health support and assistance for those who may be navigating challenging situations related to the recent events as well as informs victims of csa of some of their resources.

Even though I provided hotline numbers, it is explicitly advised not to report the situation to the FBI. Once again, the intention is to guide individuals towards appropriate mental health and support resources rather than involving law enforcement in this context. This recommendation aims to encourage a balance between addressing concerns and ensuring that the focus remains on community well-being and support rather than legal actions.

I thought this wasn’t something I would need to clarify, but there are a couple of people who genuinely believe that those numbers served as a way to report to the FBI. That was never the intention and that understanding was (for a lack of better words) made up by someone who wanted to create their own personal narrative, even if that meant making false claims or lying.

3.) The accusations and why shota/lolicon is alarming regarding this matter.

Addressing this specific incident regarding shota/lolicon is not an accusation for the fun of it, but an effort to bring attention to real accounts of predatory behavior from Ezra. There have been multiple “reports” of Ezra’s predatory behaviors. These are not baseless claims.

The intention is to share these experiences without compromising any of the victim’s identities and to maintain a level of vagueness to respect privacy and safety of all those involved while emphasizing the serious nature of the matter. There have been two separate incidents that have been brought to my attention after this discourse and both are highly concerning.

Moreover, it’s important to note that defending the right to shota/loli art inadvertently excuses the actions of a person with predatory and pedophilic behavior. While engaging in discussions about artistic freedom, it’s crucial to recognize the potential harm and impact such content may have, especially when it aligns with real-life concerning behavior.

Furthermore, it’s contradictory to claim your discomfort with shota/loli art while simultaneously defending the idea of such art, especially in light of the real-life predatory and pedophilic behavior exhibited by this person. There seems to be a reluctance among some individuals to admit the real reasons behind their discomfort or lack of support for shota/loli art. Acknowledging these reasons might expose inconsistencies in their discourse, making it challenging to maintain a cohesive stance. There is a time and a place to give your “hot take” and unfortunately, this wasn’t the correct time.

There’s a contradiction within the community. On one hand, there’s this outward expression of concern for the safety of real minors, but on the other hand, there is a tendency to dismiss or ignore concrete instances of predatory behavior. The hypocrisy lies in the disconnect between the stated values and the actions taken when faced with real accounts that genuinely raise valid concerns about the well-being of vulnerable individuals.

Where is the support and concern for the minor in his following? The fact that Ezra attempted to deflect responsibility by claiming ignorance about the minor’s age, citing a changed pinned post, raises concerns because it is a blatant lie.

Looking at the history of the account’s pinned, they have always had their age in their pinned, nothing was changed. This doesn’t make sense because if a blog with a “MDNI” policy follows an account “exposed” for being underage, it raises questions. Ezra was consciously aware that this person was a minor.

The others have asked me to keep their identities and information confidential to protect themselves from any doxxing and harassment. These are not baseless claims, however I will respect their wishes for their own safety.

4.) Defending art over real life and hypocrisy in the fandom space.

Another noteworthy point is this phenomenon where individuals are so in their fervor to defend certain forms of art (that they don’t actually support personally because they themselves know its pedophilic depictions), end up dismissing real-life concerns. The intense focus on defending artistic expression is overshadowing the potential harm caused in actual human interactions.

There’s a notable trend where the keyboard justice warriors in the fandom are in such pursuit of moral superiority and advocating for “community improvement,” when they’re prioritizing the appearance of self righteousness over genuine concern for real individuals. You’ve gone so far right that you’re wrong.

There’s a noticeable pattern where accounts are often granted permission to engage in frivolous, petty discourse, taking it to public spaces and sometimes even resorting to sending unwarranted anonymous hate to individuals who don’t deserve it. However, when faced with a serious issue such as this, the narrative completely shifts to a collective call for community improvement! This is a double standard where harmful behaviors are tolerated in less significant situations, yet the same community is urged to “do better” only when confronted with more substantial issues.

5.) POCD

Employing the concept of POCD (Pedophilic Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder) as a.. justification for the individual’s actions is deeply troubling and deplorable. It not only misrepresents the nature of mental health disorders but also risks perpetuating harmful stereotypes. Using POCD as an excuse for predatory behavior diminishes the seriousness of mental health discussions and dismisses the victims of the predatory aggressor.

Such a manipulative use of mental health terminology not only undermines the genuine struggles of individuals dealing with mental disorders but also risks normalizing predatory behavior in today’s society both in real life and online. MAPs use this terminology on X in the same form user @/critical-thoughts is using to make their argument. Yes, it’s very crucial to recognize that genuine mental health challenges should be addressed with empathy and support, but employing them as a shield to excuse harmful actions is unacceptable.

It is harmful to imply that someone with POCD needs an outlet for the pedophilic fears they experience. That perpetuates the idea that people who deal with these sorts of intrusive thoughts, secretly harbor the desire to view the material they are so afraid of engaging with. P/OCD is rooted in fear and anxiety. The intrusive thoughts tend to stem from a fear of becoming a pedophile, while your brain tells you that you secretly are one. It’s a nasty thing and difficult to deal with, but implying that people who live with POCD require some sort of access to media like that is incredibly harmful. People with POCD, oftentimes, do not want to engage with that. They often do not want to provide ammunition for their brains to continue doing this to them (though with this disorder, ammunition isn’t necessary) and it is a fear to begin doing so. To imply that someone with POCD would seek out content of children (fictional or not) that way, is harmful and perpetuates a stereotype about POCD that makes it difficult for people living with it to open up or seek the help they need.

It's also “insane” to me that someone can blindly defend someone they do not know. Moreso, someone who has real accounts of predatory behavior not even taking into consideration the art found on his X account. The art itself is what’s alarming because this individual has had actions/interests that align with pedophilia and predatory behavior.

What a lot of you aren’t understanding is that: this isn’t about which dark content is bad and what’s worse, this is about a real danger in the community.

6.) Closing.

In conclusion, it’s my personal belief that some individuals within the community may harbor feelings of resentment towards my original post because they themselves are proven to be proshippers or my other theory is that: lacking critical thinking skills and reading comprehension paired with a sense of self worth that surpasses what they experience in their daily life makes for a very unsafe environment because of the need to want to feel like they’re on the right side of the fence. It’s “block and move on” for a lot of you until its you actually getting blocked. I personally do not and will not support a predator as many of you are so inclined of doing.

Debunking The Crow’s Amazing Defence Video: How I Learnt Not To Trust A Leo Sun

The fact that Crow begins the video with mocking their old video and saying that the accused’s fans are crazy really speaks volumes. Just because they didn’t like Carousel. Already starting off with confidence, which is good. I can’t wait to see it proven without a shadow of a doubt that the accused is innocent.

First off, I am not making this because Brad Taste In Music made a video about the subject. I have always disliked that video by The Crow. I just didn’t want to express it because I know how delirious the accused’s fandom is. However, feeling like more people are wising up has given me confidence to revisit the video and give my own criticisms. Just to prove that, here is a rant I sent to a discord server mere months before I discovered his. It was a vent, so it’s not cohesive.

Okay, so… I need to vent about- or rant about something. I want to state something first of all. I am aware many people here [in that server I posted this to] are fans of this artist. And I was too. From 2014-2017. Though I still listened to their music till 2020, then I stopped because I began feeling gross. Separating artist from art became impossible because of the amount of people who supported them as a person. If you are a fan, or you believe she is innocent, okay. That’s fine. Just don’t be mean to me if you figure out who I’m talking about, and actually listen to what I have to say. This is a vent.

So, what I want to go over is this… in 2017, this artist was accused of something awful. People immediately jumped to conclusions, burning their merch, insulting them, harassing them. And then, a few people began to poke holes in their accusers story, even the tiniest details. Then, people started harassing HER.

In 2018, I think the video most people watched was by a commentary artist. I have seen that video. When I watched it, even then I felt off about it. Why? Because it’s poking holes into every little detail. The fact that she doesn’t remember things perfectly, that she wasn’t the perfect victim, that she forget details. And then ‘body analysis’ experts came along, which is a pseudoscience, and continued to push that narrative. The accuser got harassed daily to the point where she had to delete her social media.

Not only that, but that person? They are not a reliable source. In one video they made, they said that the accuser admitted she lied. However, the ‘evidence’ is a tiktok screenshot. The accuser actually DEBUNKED this herself. However, tiktok user /alexmster has evidence that she *said on video, she did not admit to lying.*

The allegations weren’t ‘debunked.’ Were they proven? Obviously not, because you can’t prove that easy. But the way the internet responded to this is *disgusting.*, and I’m still pissed about it to this day. I’m not saying the accused is guilty. I’m saying that there isn’t enough evidence that the accuser was lying. And the fact people were to eager to continue supporting them that they fabricated evidence- *no*. That’s ridiculous. The fact is that at the end of the day- music artists we like can be bad people. “Stanning” celebrities is dangerous because it makes you do stuff like this. I understand there are some situations where accusers lie. The Kwite situation for example. Orion, I was suspicious of from the start. But I remained neutral. Kwite came out with mountains of evidence against Orion, proving that he was 100% lying. Did the accused in this case? Well, no… and it’s a tricky situation, because it’s not a clear-cut answer of who the burden of proof is on. Is it on the victim? To a degree. But should we really live in a world where a victims validity is based on how accurately they can remember events? How much evidence they have? Why can’t we live in a world that remains impartial? Is it on the accused? Well, no, not that either. Because if someone accuses you of something, and let’s say they’re a complete stranger, and that you don’t know them. How can you even disprove that? You can’t really. So it’s a tricky situation.

Again, I want to re-iterate. I avoid this topic usually, because well… people have been mean to me about it. And well, this is what has piled up. A lot of anger. But, I just can’t hide that anger anymore. It’s gotten to the point where it’s almost triggering me to hear about that artist. I really just think the internet needs to revisit these allegations. I’m not saying listening to the accused in this cases music is bad, I’m just saying that we can’t just assume they are innocent because it’s the popular consensus.

I don’t want to be attacked for this. There’s a reason I didn’t mention directly who I’m talking about. I have been before. The fans of this artist are ruthless bullies sometimes. It’s why I stopped listening to them entirely. How can you take pride in ruining a potential victims life? Does it make these people happy? Why do they feel the need to do this? I don’t get it. I don’t. No one in this situation deserves harassment. Not the accuser, not the accused. No one. The internet wants to act like a courtroom, but the only people who truly know what happened that day is the accused and the accuser. And I don’t know. 2017 was a very different time in internet history, and I’d like to think people handle these situations with more maturity nowadays. But still… and the worst part? I can’t even post this outside of a server, because if I posted this to tumblr for example, I’d get harassed. It’s ridiculous. They are the kind of fans who assume anyone who doesn’t fully support their idol is an idiot. It’s critical thinking that led me to this rant. It’s acknowledging the faults of people. It’s understanding that led me here. Not hate. Not ignorance. Not lies.

Again, I know some people are a fan of this artist here. I’m sorry. This isn’t me saying you’re a bad person. I just needed to get this out.

The people in there were very respectful of my opinion. I don’t know if they knew who I was talking about, but I ended up leaving that server because I got my OCD triggered. Also, other reasons. Like an alleged… really bad and toxic person… being in the server. But I didn’t know how to bring it up ahh… But that’s neither here nor there. Out of all the accused’s fans, they were the least unhinged. They were actually pretty alright people. Maybe because they were adults.

Anyway, back to the video. Are they discussing Edwin’s Generation? I vaguely remember he made a video about the situation.

“I didn’t even watch the vids, but let me critique my strawman arguments.” How could you possibly know what he said if you didn’t watch the video? Yep, I remember him making a Mars Argo video too.

The fact that they say “I already know the way he thinks” is very concerning. I also support Mars Argo, because she was victimised. This isn’t really a debate. Even the woman who defended the initial alleged came out and spoke against him. I haven’t been keeping up with any updates lately, but they seem to have a very condescending nature about believing victims. It doesn’t help that in a recent video they call supporters of the victim of the accused “naive.” Ironic, considering the echo chamber that is the accused’s fanbase.

“It’s likely he’s lying about not being close with the victim” where’s your proof? You can’t just claim things with no proof.

“Liars often try to convince you they’re telling the truth, while people who aren’t just expect you to believe them.” Ah, yes. Very logical argument.

“Edwin is biased.” Ad hominem. It doesn’t matter if he’s biased. That doesn’t debunk his argument. Also, rich coming from you.

“The fact that his interview takes place in the victims home strikes me as odd if they aren’t friends.” Then I suppose Vogue interns must be besties with every celebrity they interview. This isn’t an argument, and even if it was, you are attacking his character, not his argumenting skills.

Argument by authority. Proceeding to dismiss something you’re doing (demonising BPD) by claiming that your argument doesn’t hinge on it. So far, it does. We are 8 minutes into the video.

Literally shows a clip of the victim saying they have never struggled with lying, and then says they know that she is lying about never lying because “note symptoms and diagnostic criteria aren't necessarily mutually exclusive, but this still bothers me a lot. Like, what, it's typical for borderlines to lie and she's the only one who's honest Imao.” The fuck you mean it’s typical? You don’t speak for every person with BPD. Lying is not a diagnostic criteria for BPD.

“She says that being malicious and revengeful is a sign of BPD.” No she didn’t. She said “I don’t have to fit every symptom of BPD.” because her therapist said that being malicious and revengeful is a sign of BPD. They are blaming her for what her THERAPIST said.

Oh my god. Just because someone looks over the evidence and believes the victim doesn’t make them stupid. In your words, he might’ve used logic to come to his conclusions. Not everyone thinks exactly like you. False Dichotomy.

Well that was the worst video I’ve ever seen, and I’ve watched Who Killed Captain Alex. At least that movie has ironic enjoyment and was made with love. This video is a toxic, harmful and disgusting video shaming a victim of SA into silence. Stop using this video as a source.

Also, they spread misinformation in their newer video when he said that Timothy retracted her statement. She did not. As I said earlier, Timothy has stated publicly she stands by it and that screenshot was FAKE. But Crow doesn’t care about evidence, but flawed logic. If you read my earlier rant, I talked about this.

This trend issue is seeping into art.

There are the more innocuous versions of this, like the recent naming of the CalArts Art Style or the Jelly Art Style or the Cream Soda Art Style for drama on TikTok, but then we get into the insidious flooding of beginner art forums with questions like “What style is this?”

And it’s insidious because beginner artists can and will ask this question in good faith.

Lots of people are inspired by ‘styles’ like “anime” art and will ask for help looking for more references.

But, nowadays, AI bros will masquerade as these beginners in these forums with pictures of art they’re trying to steal from, hoping to find keyword prompts for their grift. Which then leads to a bunch of commenters attacking any and all “What’s this style?” posts out of a reasonable fear that any responses to these questions will be fed to an AI.

Bet you can guess where that leads.

Yep, baby artists attacked out the gate and treated with hostility over a pretty common misconception because it makes them indistinguishable from AI bros. And this misconception is also partially why I’m not a huge fan of AI bros:

They tout themselves as artistic revolutionaries progressing the field, yet they’re making the exact same mistake as art noobs, which is thinking that Art Style is prescriptive.

It’s not. It’s descriptive.

It makes sense to name art styles for huge movements of artists with generally shared characteristics, like putting anime artists under one umbrella, just like how clothing trends in the past were named. A description after the fact. But these noobs aren’t asking for “anime” as a response. Anime is too broad, it could look like anything from Aku no Hana to Panty and Stocking!

What they’re looking for is a niche art style with a clear set of aesthetic features that they can Google. They want you to take their examples of 5 wildly different art pieces off Pinterest and list for them a style that consolidates them, the way you would while compiling a ballet coquette Pinterest board or a light academia aesthetic TikTok slideshow.

And I can’t blame them for that, because that’s exactly how the Jelly Art Style and the Cream Soda Art Style and ESPECIALLY the CalArts Art Style works.

What I am blaming is the way algorithms on social media and within AI have changed the way we think about art styles, prioritizing grouping all these unique artists into an easily identifiable, pinterestable, Instagram-Face art marketable rabbit holes. By doing so, they rob the artworks—not of some mystical quality of originality, nothing is original—but of their connection to the PEOPLE who originally made them.

With art movements like Fauvism, you can trace the origins and inspirations of the art style to specific artists. If you ever needed references for them, they’re listed right there on Wikipedia.

When the digital art community discussed art styles in the past, it was usually in direct reference to a specific artist’s style. The Samdoesarts art style. The Galactibun animatic style. How to find YOUR art style.

These artists could literally tell you which artists they studied if you ever needed more references on how to draw in their style. Style wasn’t some mystical thing that came fully formed out of the bowels of TikTok’s algorithm, it was your personal distillation of all the different people you were inspired by.

In contrast, if you were to ask me to list artists who use the Jelly Art Style or Cream Soda Art Style, I wouldn’t be able to list a single one, even though I know EXACTLY what the styles look like. AI art may still be in its infancy, but the separation of art from the artist is already here.

So yeah, I’m sick of the question “What style is this?”

If you want, a bandaid solution would be to replace all these style questions with “What artists drew these pictures?” or “Who was this artist inspired by?”

My solution, of course, is to become powerful enough to Kill All Algorithms.

So the Your Boyfriend Fandom seems to be resurfacing?

...or maybe not, but I still wanna say my lil piece before going on with my day: As little to zero of you guys know, I used to be interested in Your Boyfriend. (A Christian, into a EROTIC horror dating sim?! ...Look, Fuboo was promising a SFW version of the game, I was looking forward to that)

Sometimes, a deranged, creepy yandere guy wanting you and only you can be very enticing... BUT that enticement turned into rage when a good Samaritan on this very website pointed out the true nature of Fuboo and her hubby.

But just being told “X person is a groomer and her husband is a rapist” is not enough to get me to fully believe you... but it wasn’t just HEARSAY either, there were like what... a couple of docs? With some very compelling evidence. Reading those docs was enough for me to be like “Screw this crap, I’m not supporting a groomer and her rapist hubby!” ...I went from wanting Peter on my wall, to wanting to burn the pictures of him that I had printed out. That being said, I don’t believe one should support the creator and her crew that works on “Your Boyfriend”. If you want to enjoy Peter and crew, that’s fine I guess... Just remember to separate Artist from art. And since Fuboo isn’t as big time as other gaming companies such as Nintendo, Sega or Cheritz, I highly recommend that you keep your YB stuff more private among yourselves, as displaying your amazing art talent may get other people into the fandom... And honestly? That’s not really a good thing. I have my own fanon version of Peter known as “Seater”, he’s going to be used for a private RP between me and a couple of my friends. (Our Ingening RP to be exact, he’s one of the antagonists!) ...The point is, I’m not going to draw my fanon Peter and post him to my blog here or anything like that, because I don’t want Fuboo to get more exposure and therefore more support. My art talent is NOT for supporting groomers and rapists. ...And please, do not donate to the Patreon of Your Boyfriend or Black Shepherd Games. These shady people do NOT deserve any support whatsoever. Was thinking about posting this potential small tweet on my Twitter, but refrained bc I have baby minors who follow me and I don’t want them to get an interest in the game. By the way, if you’re a minor and you’re reading this PLEASE DO NOT GET INTO YOUR BOYFRIEND. Firstly, it’s highly NSFW. Secondly, the people who make the game are highly shady and dangerous. You’re far better off playing Pokemon, Zelda, Splatoon or heck even Fall Guys! ...Can’t go wrong with good old fashioned Among us either~

Which now I’ll state my second point: I find it very disgusting how there are people who are blindly supporting Fuboo bc they “Want the game to release so they can leap into Peter senpai’s pants UwU” ...There’s actually a whole doc explaining how the Black Shepherd Games server was like this cult, and they were encouraging folks on the server to talk crap about the victim and anyone who dared to stand up for someone speaking out against their rapist. If they did that. they’d get server perks or something to that effect. Now with me just telling you all this, I don’t expect you to blindly believe me. Good on you, BUT: I have a link to a thread on Twitter as to why I believe Melissa and her hubby Jake are such awful people and why they and Black Shepherd Games as a whole should NEVER be trusted. >>> Proof that backs up the claims made in this post. an announcement

hey everyone! I just wanted to let you all know that my tumblr and instagram accounts will be inactive until further notice. more information under the cut, but long story short: I have had an incredibly fun and positive time sharing my art with you all over the last year or so. however, I’ve noticed myself making my internet presence way too much of a priority in my life, and it’s become unhealthy for my relationships and my faith. I’ve decided to take a step back. if I ever feel like it’s a healthy choice for me to come back to these accounts, then I’d love to--but right now it’s not. thank you for understanding.

About six months ago, I was facing a really big life decision and one of the big questions I had was what my art was supposed to be for. Before I began posting my art online a little over a year ago, I never thought much of it; I drew characters that I liked because it made me feel happy. But after the pandemic hit and quarantine began, I felt bored and sad and I decided to finally make a tumblr account and post some pictures on it. About a week after I made the account, I drew a comic that was a crossover between steven universe and gravity falls, and it blew up. I started getting thousands of followers every day, and I’d never had followers on anything before in my life, and it was exciting, and I didn’t want it to stop. I did feel God impressing on my heart back then that I needed to ask Him for permission to do this, but I was so worried of losing the momentum of my rapid following that I ignored Him.

Since that week, my follower base has grown to 17k on tumblr and 20k on instagram. To be honest, I think about it all the time. All my free time is spent creating content, or consuming content, or obsessively looking through the reactions to the content I produce. All this to say, the events of the last year have caused me to see my art differently, to believe that it was good. Not because of what God says about me, but because of what strangers on the internet did. And this newfound belief in my artistic skill caused me a newfound source of pain and confusion: I became worried that I was wasting it. I was worried that I should’ve gone to a better school, should be practicing more, should be more focused on how to get a career in the industry. And six months ago, when I was faced with a big life decision, I asked God what my art was for. I wanted Him to give me a career path, a degree. But that’s not what He told me.

I was reading in the book of Lamentations that day, and it struck me that it was a book of poetry. It was gorgeously intricate and structured and beautiful, and it was art. It was art that wasn’t for anyone but God, not intended for anything but the act of offering up a prayer and a praise to Him. And God revealed to me in that moment that He didn’t give me art so that I could pursue a certain career path or degree; He gave me art so that I could give it back to Him. So that I could worship. This revelation filled me with a joy I haven’t often felt--one that brought my heart back to life and filled my mouth with praise. God spoke to me in that moment, asked me to give my art back to Him in worship, and then... I let the moment pass. I chose to ignore Him, again. I was still too afraid of losing it all, this little kingdom on earth I’d built.

A few weeks ago I was at church and the Lord impressed upon me, again, that it was time to give it up. I knew that God told me to give my art back to Him in worship, and I knew I had ignored Him, and I felt His Spirit imploring me strongly again to give it up. And still, I was afraid to walk away. I liked how it felt, receiving dozens of nice comments every day. I liked watching the numbers go up, watching my skills as an artist improve and gain recognition. I liked feeling like I made people laugh or smile or have a better day. I told myself that it was harmless, good even. (But, as it turns out, God has a reason for the things that He asks of us. As it turns out, God sees the whole picture while we live our lives grasping at a single piece of the puzzle. As it turns out, it is often the most mundane of things that can separate us from God.)

Recently, someone very close to me told me she’s been feeling distant from me for the past year, that I’ve shown so little interest in her life that it’s gotten to the point where she’s been anxious to even talk to me. This is something I admit with the heaviest heart. I’ve been so focused on building myself up that I’ve been neglecting the people God’s put in my life. I’ve been centering my life on something that’s not Him, and when I do that--no matter what it is that I’m centering my life on-- it hurts me and it hurts those who are around me. God has sent me a wake-up call and He is asking me to obey, and this time I am saying yes.

If you have ever enjoyed my account or anything I’ve had to say, this is the only thing I can tell you that has any real significance: God knows you and loves you and wants to have a relationship with you. I say this not because it’s what I’ve been taught, but because it’s my actual lived experience. I wouldn't be doing this if He hadn't asked me to, and if He hadn't proven to me that I can trust Him to take care of me through it.

Thank you so much to everyone who has been so kind to me. I’ve made so many friends through this experience and felt so inspired and happy and loved here. From the bottom of my heart, I’m so thankful for your endless kind and encouraging words. The last year and a half have by far been the hardest of my life but this community has brought me happiness through that. I know, though, that it’s time for me to give it up for now and focus on what God has for me. Thank you for reading and understanding.
